It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

NOT! Okay, I'm having a really hard time getting into the Christmas spirit. It doesn't really help that our weather is close to 60 degrees everyday and the closest thing to snow we've had is rain! We have 2 radio stations that have been playing nothing but Christmas music for over a week now and will continue to do so through Christmas day. It's not helping either. Also, not too many people around here decorate their homes. What's up with that? I miss the days as a child. Our christmas' (maybe not always the exact day, but the month of December most definitly) always had snow and frigid weather. Everyone decorated, subdivisions pulled together and put on huge Christmas displays that we'd drive by in awe. I remember sledding, hookie bobbing, putting skis on and trying to ski down our street. I wish it could be like that for my children. I guess all we can do is make what we do have enjoyable and memorable. That's my goal, along with some of our own family traditions.

i agree w/you. it does make it better when everyone is more festive, but this just calls for some ingenious creativity on your part. for instance. maybe your family could get w/another and go caroling. you and the kids could make some fun garland for the tree -put on the christmas music, make wassel and cookies - and just have fun. maybe let anneliese pick out a gift to buy for someone you know in need or if you have an elderly person you know, take them some home made goodies. i think this will help you find that feeling you're missing. cause christmas is all about giving and jesus right? i love you!

Well I must say that I can't think of anything that would get me more in the Christmas spirit than warm weather! Well, I will admit that the thought actually crossed my mind a few days ago that I might actually be a little bit sad if there was no cold weather for the hoildays. But then I quickly remembered that winter is the longest season around here, and all those thoughts went away:) You know, I was reading over your info about how Christmas used to be when you were a kid and I feel the same way you do. I used to get so excited about decorating the Christmas tree and doing all those holiday things, but now as an adult I wonder how my parents viewed the whole event. They probably did the same things I do now. Curse when I put all of the Christmas lights on the tree the wrong way and have to peel them off, yell at the crazy drivers and try to beat old women into parking places:) But I look at Christmas in a whole new way now. I am happy when I see the happy faces of the children, and my relatives who I do not see very often. It is then that I start to realize why being a kid was so much darn fun....it is totally self centered! It is the innocence of the season, and the knot in your stomach from waiting for Santa. Gosh, when did life get to serious that we stop believing in the unbelieveable?? Well those are my thoughts on the holidays and the warm weather. Although I must add one last thought...I love the stupid Christmas music they have been playing on the radio non-stop since Thanksgiving!! They are doing it just right...by Christmas I will be so stinkin' tired of it that I won't be able to stand it until next year! :) guess who wrote this?
